insider tips and tricks for crafting your picture-perfect wedding celebration
The last few weeks as I’ve been working on the final touches of Planning Our Forever, I’ve been using the word intentionality a lot. Regardless of your preference in terms of the size of wedding, the style or it or anything else that goes into wedding planning, Planning Our Forever is all about intention. It’s about taking the pause to identify what you desire and come together with your fiancé to craft a wedding that suites you both.
So, as I sat down to write about wedding planning and intentionality, this blog article came flying onto the page. I know when I’m writing or when it’s coming from another place and this blog certainly came from an energy different than my own. In an effort to keep it pure with the intention it came through with, below is the article in its entirety, completely unaltered. I hope this resonates with you.
What is intentionality?
I use this word a lot when I talk about Planning Our Forever.
Intentionality is about love. It’s about the essence of your being. It’s moving from your heart space. It’s about putting in the love and thoughtfulness that comes when you take a pause before you make any decisions. That space between. That’s the intention.
It’s easy to be faced with decisions and just keep going. To keep pushing, to keep going without pause. But what does that pause offer? Clarity, space, intention. It allows us the time to search our heart and soul for an answer. It allows us to listen and hear our heart speaking to us. It is the breath that stops the cascade of energy in a flow and direction we didn’t want.
That’s how most weddings are planned. The floodgates of decisions open and then you’re faced with making one decision after another without any pause. Without any heart. Without any love. Without any check in. Without any opportunity to say “Is this what I really want?”. That gets lost in the planning process. The pauses and breaths and moments and smiles and heart felt memories get brushed over in the sake of making decisions, being efficient and proficient. The love, the breath, is lost. And those are the weddings that you can feel the difference. It’s lost the extra bubble. The energy is different. It feels stark and robotic. The love in the in between moments don’t exist because it’s all planned. That’s not how life is and that’s not how a wedding should be.
A wedding is a rite of passage into marriage. No matter how big or small your wedding is, it’s a symbol of the life the two of you are creating together. The planning that goes into it is a lesson for both of you. The lesson to pause and discover what you truly want before moving forward. The lesson to communicate with your partner your desires. The lesson to find compromise in two individuals with two different visions. The lesson to find the love and stillness in the moments and soak in the joy of this time in your life that feels overwhelming. It’s all in preparation.

ABOUT ALICIA.
I absolutely love love and there is no better place to witness the immense amount of love between two people than at a wedding. I cry at every wedding I attend knowing that I am watching a truly personal moment that the couple before me has chosen to share with me. It is beautiful and raw and the result of lots and lots of planning.
When our wedding was over, I didn't have the wedding blues. Instead, I felt how blessed we were to have lived the day of our dreams with our family and friends. I felt a fire in my heart. I wanted every couple to feel the same way at their wedding that we felt at ours.
"Why did our wedding feel so special?" was the question I kept coming back to. I realized it was because it was lead by Spirit. We got engaged on a trip which meant we had so much time to soak up those special moments of our recent engagement and spend time envisioning our day. By the time we returned home, we knew the wedding we wanted.
